Ideas: Bow Boots

Add bows to the back of your rubber goulashes! Instant cute!
You could either sew these on or hot glue them.
I think I like this navy/gold combo the best!

Ideas: Ambient Light Pillow

I wonder if there would be an easy way to make this? I thought I'd find something on Instructables but no such luck. You can buy one but they're really expensive $179 at Yanko Design.

Would be a great gift for that child in your life who is afraid of the dark. Also makes neat ambient light in a room.

If anyone knows of a way to make one of these I'd love to hear it!

Apparently, it's battery operated and lasts for about 4 hours until it then dims down and turns off.

Ideas: Fabric Drawer Pulls

Don't have knobs? Try DIY fabric drawer pulls!

Just drill two holes in the front of your drawer and thread fabric through.

Then tie in knots on the inside to secure in place.

Then tie another knot in the front of the drawer to make a bow.

This would look great for a beachy rustic feel.

Ideas: Bedroom Theatrics

If you had enough room in your child's room wouldn't you love to build a stage too?
Look like this corner stage was made with a rounded pole for the ceiling.
And a rounded stage would take up less room.

Ideas: Expedit Dollhouse

I saw this and just loved it. I built a real (rather pricey) dollhouse for Lily years ago so I can't justify making one of these but I think it's great for kids because I've found that the fancy dollhouse I built gets ruined very easily. The pieces are too small, the glue isn't that sturdy and you can only use small dolls in it. This would be great if you have a bunch of barbie sized dolls.

This might be a great idea for a Christmas gift. You can use the Expedit bookshelf from IKEA for $129. But if you want to be frugal I'd look on Craigslist for used one. Looking in my area I've found one for only $40 in Baltimore, one for $50 in Annapolis VA, and two smaller 8 unit sized Expedits for $35 in Philadelphia, one for $30 in DC, and another for $35 in DC. I use Crazedlist.org to search Craigslist. It allows you to search multiple cities at once. You can even search by regions (ie NE, SE, W, Mountain, New England, etc.).

Also, doll furniture can get pretty expensive. By the time it was all said and done, the dollhouse furniture and flooring I bought cost as much as the dollhouse. Some places I've found cheap furniture are the dollar store, thrift stores, Cragislist (see this deal), Ebay's okay too but you have to keep shipping in mind.

It also looks like the person who did this used simple things like patterned paper for the walls and floor and fuzzy fabric for the rugs. You could get pretty creative with something like this. I really like how each room has a 'theme'. I think my girls would just swoon over it.

Ideas 29: Print on Fabric with Your Inkjet Printer

I know I'm really late for this bus but it IS possible to print on fabric with freezer paper! I'd like to try it sometime. I guess the freezer paper stiffens the fabric enough so that it won't bunch up in the printer.

It is recommended to use 200 thread count cotton fabric like quilting weight cotton. Also only use on inkjet printers. As for washing and the colors running when getting it wet there are several options to prevent this from happening. First you can buy waterproof inkjet ink. Second you can treat the fabric beforehand with Bubble Jet Set. Third you can treat the fabric after with Scotch Guard or any kind of fabric protecting spray. You can also soak the fabric in vinegar for a couple hours which is said to help as well! And be sure to iron your fabric with the hottest setting after you print to set the ink.

Check out Domestically Speaking's framed burlap print above! The possibilities are limitless. Think of all the wedding uses alone;) I bet if burlap works then canvas would as well.

Oh my gosh, if you had a large format printer (like this one) you could print your OWN fabric by the yard. Now THAT would be cool!

Ideas: Romantic Gazebo Cover

Do you have one of those metal gazebos sitting around without a cover because you left it up all winter and it got a bunch of holes in it (like I did)? I ended throwing mine away but instead you could opt to try something like this. Pretty lovely. I believe all you would have to do is throw two pieces of long 56" wide fabric over top and tie the fabric to the posts then decorate with garland.

Ideas 28: Stuffed Animal Storage

For years I've been trying to solve the stuffed animal dilemma in our home. We have enough to populate a small plush city. I can't bring myself to give them away because the girls love them so much and they all have some kind of special meaning to them. Yesterday I spent the entire day cleaning up the basement because it had partially flooded with really disgusting water. The water ruined so many things I had in plastic bags on the floor. One of which was a sack of stuffed animals I couldn't find a place for upstairs.

So I've been thinking of making something like this for our overabundance of stuffed animals. It would also solve my need for bean bags. You can buy one for $450.00 but that's just madness! I think it would be comfy if it were stuffed with only plush animals and not dolls or mechanical plush toys. But we have so many of both I think it would still work. I wonder how the kids would feel about sitting on their stuffed animals.

A short cut idea might be to purchase a cheap bean bag, take out all the stuffing, cut a large hole in the cover, sew a see through mesh in it's place and fill it with your stuffed animals. That way you don't have to install a zipper.

Ideas: Pallet drawers

Sorry for the double pallet posts. I've seriously been looking up pallets sofa ideas. I got some free foam off freecycle which is making pallet chairs a definite possibility. So I saw this and definitely wanted to share. If you don't like the look of the stacked pallets try adding drawers.
