Picnic Frock GIVEAWAY!!!! CLOSED.

opera houseHonestly, I was so pleased with this photo shoot. Everything was just right (which rarely happens for me). The weather was GORGEOUS! Dry and in the 90s. Could have been a little cooler but I much prefer it to be too warm than too cold. It was the first summer day of the spring. Just perfect for a picnic frock!

This is one of the more complicated garments I've done. The slip underneath is part of the dress. It's made from a soft sheeny nylon material. The overdress material was really the icing on the cake! It is a parchment paper-like see-through material with sea green and blue vertical stripes.

The cut of the skirt is an a-line and was made with a full body. The skirt of the slip has a little less body so that the overdress material can be more visible. The top of the dress has a mission collar and ten pintucks falling down the front. Four butter colored buttons line the bottom. The sleeves are slit down the middle and cinched with a thin cuff. To tie the dress together (literally) I added a gold colored grosgrain ribbon around the waist.

The scene we found was near perfect. I say near because of the thousands of gnats and mosquitos that bit our legs and flew in our eyes the entire time. For the background, though, it was well worth it!

opera houseThanks to the weather we were finally able to use my new litedisc! And boy-yoi-yoi-yoing was it AMAZING! I can see why professionals use it. Brian made me laugh when he said it looked like I had an open case of gold bouillon under my face. It took the BEST pictures. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to take better photos.

opera houseI can't believe I waded out into that water. Not really a big deal but it had a lot of scummy growth all over the rocks. I guess there are worse things to do. The water was sooo cold which felt good in the 90 degree weather.

Wouldn't it be nice to have this in your back yard? With the waterfall and the mill. In the summer everything looks so picturesque.

opera houseI'll be posting frequently this week so keep checking back often! Lots of good giveaways to offer!

My posting has admittedly been a little scarce at times. I've been working on slipcovers for my living room set and UGH are they TEDIOUS! I dread making slipcovers but there are times when you look at your old stuff and you know its definitely TIME!

opera houseMy old slipcovers were store bought from IKEA. When I bought the furniture they were the cheapest slipcovers that went with the set. They were of course....white. I thought, I'll just leave the armchair in Lily's room and wash it when needs be.

After moving we had to use them in our living room. And after two years, they looked as though I left them out all winter.

opera houseI could bleach the stains out but it was quite a task. At least taking all day from removal to recover. Do any of you also struggle with this dilemma?

My new slipcovers look FABULOUS! They are black. No more stains (at least visible ones). I guess the stains will still be there, just not as noticeable. That's a little gross but still....better than having to see them.

opera houseYou might think black....ugly. But they really look good. I linked the edges with toile piping. Hopefully I'll have a post up this week about them. I still have the loveseat to cover. That might take a while.

I also hope to be posting a lot of VERY cool guest giveaways in the next two weeks! So exciting!

If you're interested, the necklace is from Forever 21....of course:)

I would say this dress would fit a size 2 to 6.

    Last day for posts is
    Friday 5/08/09.
