I saw an Issac Mizrahi dress that inspired me. This was the result. I thought it looked like something one might wear to a gallery opening- hence the name. It bears a boatneck top, three quarter ruffled sleeves and a shift fit. I paired it with black ballet flats and more impresive- a red balloon. She's so mod.

Boardwalk Blue Stripe Frock

This dress reminded me of a photo you might see in the 1930s of young girl eating a sno-cone at Coney Island or standing barefoot on the sand at the seashore. Navy and white make such a crisp combination reminicent of sailing, beaches and all things water. I made this dress with a full circled skirt so lily can really whip it around when she twirls. She wore it to a graduation party and entertained herself by spinning and spinning until falling over. My favorite touch were the short sleeved button cuffs. I really struggled with a couple ideas for the sleeves but I think these were the perfect choice.

The Reversible Teacup Shift Dress

I saw this blue and rose material and fell in love with it. To some, it might seem dowdy but there is a certain class to some dowdy patterns. Sort of like the beauty you see in an antique teacup which is what this material reminded me of. I handmade the fabric buttons myself which adds a sweet touch. It is of course, reversible with a yellow polka dotted flip side. I would have given the other side a name too but I thought "The Reversible Teacup Dotted Swiss Sunshine Shift Dress" might trip over the tongue.

The Swiss Dress

My last dress was full of pattern. I wanted the next one to be full of character. This was the result. I modeled it after a cute frock I saw on Sugar City Journal. I named it the Swiss Dress because it reminded me of something Heidi might wear while running willy nilly in the Alps. It came out a little too short but as you can see below Lily loved the unrestrictive length. I added little pompoms to her knee highs and voila! Adorable.
